December is a short month for all businesses and can either be crazy or slow, but this December was especially crazy for our business and I found out what effect slacking off on spending my usual 3 hours a week on digital marketing had on our overall marketing efforts and business. Normally I do the following for our business and have maintained a steady rate of followers, traffic on our website, and new business from our efforts:
This article is not to scare anyone or to deter anyone from getting what they need to get done. It is an actual case study on understanding the effect that taking time off from digital marketing can have and how important it is today in a business. It is the internet world and people crave information and education at every turn and what digital marketing provides is just this for your business by showing your expertise and understanding of the market and how your products and services fit. If you are not providing information / content - your competition is. Your followers are not that loyal if you take a break nor those that visit your blog and website.
The key to success is setting realistic goals and expectations.when it comes to digital marketing and sticking to it, because slacking off can truly have repercussions for your business and your marketing efforts. This message are for those that are not believers yet or are not putting the true effort into their online marketing. Digital marketing costs a lot less that traditional marketing did in actual dollars, but requires time and effort to be allocated on a regular basis.
Before you take on digital marketing in your business you need to define the time that needs to be allocated to your digital marketing efforts on a regular business and who in our outside your business is responsible. If you stick with a schedule and are consistent, you will be successful. If you implement it on an erratic basis, you will not get the expected return. I am not surprised that we lost a little momentum in our slacking off - in fact it proved what I expected and know I have a bit of work ahead to "redeem" myself with our followers.
